Tchibo Coffee Service’s Coffee-to-go (C2G) sector supplies self-serve coffee machines to over 1000 forecourts and convenience stores across the UK. Coffee on the go is more important than ever, as over 80% people drink coffee outside of the home. There is also an increased expectation for high quality coffee so all our self-serve machines are 100% Arabica bean-to-cup machines. We even launched a brand new coffee-to-go solution last year, with heavy emphasis on sustainable and ethical coffee production, called Smokin’ Bean. Our colleagues in the C2G sector have a lot of great initiatives to offer our customers and consumers alike!
But what’s it like to be a C2G National Account Manager? In this blog we’ll find out by spending one day in their life!
Biography
Name: Tony Lewis
Title: National Account Manager – Coffee-to-go
How long have you worked at Tchibo? Five years

What are the responsibilities in your role as a NAM?
I am responsible for managing some of the Symbol Convenience retail accounts for Coffee-to-go. A symbol group is a form of franchise in the retail sector, so they act as suppliers to convenience shops and trade under a common name. The groups I manage are Nisa, Costcutter, One Stop and Todays Group.
Describe a typical day…
The working week can be quite varied. Once a week I’m in our head office liaising with the Commercial team to discuss contracts and terms, or I regularly meet with marketing to arrange events, campaigns and initiatives.
I’m also involved resolving any issues my customers may have, with the goal of growing our C2G customer’s business.
Other days are spent visiting the Symbol Group’s headquarters to have quarterly reviews, attend supplier conferences, trade shows, networking events and deliver demonstrations. I also attend new business meetings and survey potential prospects. I do a lot of presenting to customers in this role.
What’s the best thing about this job?
I like working for Tchibo as a company and I enjoy that there is a lot of variety in this role. I would consider myself a people person, and I like that I get the chance to meet and talk to people throughout my working day. I also love presenting – I like talking full stop!
As I have to talk about coffee every day, it helps that I love my coffee and that I am proud of the quality that Tchibo delivers
