This year Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning falls on 27th September and we’re starting to think about new and fun ways we can raise money for this amazing charity.

Macmillan Cancer Support is a one of the largest charities in Britain providing medical, financial and emotional support to people facing cancer. Not only that, they also provide vital support to carers, families and local communities.

In 2018, the event raised £26,914,382 and we want to help them raise even more this year!

Last year, we came up with 4 easy ways to fundraise, so this year we’ve thought of a few more you can do easily in your office to mix it up and try to smash last year’s target! You can get your fundraising pack from Macmillan here.

1. Charge a small donation for coffees

Why not pop a small donation box next to your self-serve coffee machine and encourage your team to make a small donation for each coffee they drink? You’ll be surprised how much those pennies make a difference. And this is a very low maintenance way to raise some cash.

2. Host a quiz

You’ll really see your colleagues’ competitive side with this one! Charge a small fee to participate and donate this fee to Macmillan. You can do a simple quiz on PowerPoint and host it in one of your meeting rooms or download an app like Kahoot to make it really interactive. Maybe you could have a theme for your questions like the Macmillan charity, your business, industry sector or coffee. We have lots of coffee facts you can find throughout our blog so have a look!

3. Have a raffle

Get your hands on some prizes by asking for donations from local businesses, your colleagues or clients in aid of a good cause. Then sell raffle tickets to offer the chance to win the prizes. These always go down well as you can sell the tickets cheaply, but it’s a good fundraiser as people tend to buy a full strip in order to maximise their chances of winning! It’s also good fun to get the office together and make a show of the raffle draw.

4. Make it dress down day or have a theme

If your office is formal during the week, why not make Friday 27th September dress down day? Allow your team to wear jeans and trainers for a small donation. If your office has a relaxed dress code anyway, why not encourage a theme that day? You could ask people to wear bright colours, wear green and purple (Macmillan colours!), crazy ties or socks… there are loads of options!

5. Have a bake sale

What coffee morning is complete without cake? Sell home-bakes at your coffee morning to raise funds. Are you stuck for ideas on what to bake? Watch this space because we’ll be sharing some awesome coffee-based recipes from our star bakers at Tchibo Coffee Service head office!

Hopefully, these ideas have inspired you to host your own coffee morning. In the next few weeks, we’ll be revealing more about our plans.

Do you have any other cool ideas to raise money? Please let us know in the comments!
