This Monday 1st October people from all over the world will be celebrating International Coffee Day by showing their appreciation for coffee.

But did you know that there is a lot of work that goes into your cup of coffee, from the coffee farms to the supermarket. International Coffee Day toasts the hard work that goes into the whole process. There are 77 Member States of the International Coffee Organisation and on Monday they will all come together to celebrate the event, which has now been running for 3 years.

For International Coffee Day though, events happen all over the world, from Devon in the UK to Cartago in Colombia. Many businesses will offer free or discounted cups of coffee, may hold special deals for loyal customers and there may be taster sessions for you to try out varieties that you haven’t tried before.

To celebrate the day, we’ve created this quiz for you to test your coffee knowledge. Are you a Beginner Barista or a Coffee Connoisseur? Find out now!

The importance of Fairtrade is also emphasised on International Coffee Day. We understand that businesses want and need to be more ethical and one of the ways we are doing this is through initiatives such as Fairtrade supporting coffee farmers.

We enjoy a cup or two of coffee every day, but how will you be celebrating International Coffee Day? Let us know in the comments!
